Cleric Urges Research on Quranic Diplomacy

IQNA – The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) said extensive research is needed in the field of Quranic diplomacy and diplomacy of Islamic proximity.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour made the remark while addressing the closing ceremony of a festival on top research studies in the field of international cultural relations.

It was held at Al-Zahra Hall of ICRO’s headquarters in Tehran on Tuesday morning.

He added that lack of up-to-date studies in these fields is a major issue as the studies should be conducted with an eye on the needs of day.   

He stressed that the Quran is one of the main themes of Islamic proximity efforts, adding that Quranic activities should develop and these is need for research in this area.

Also addressing the event was Mohammad Reza Dehshiri, head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s College of International Relations.

He said there should be efforts to create deep links between cultural studies and studies on the society.

He also highlighted the need for using the capacities of cultural attachés and the country’s cultural managers in promoting cultural diplomacy.

Another speaker, Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, the Iranian vice president for parliamentary affairs, said a country’s main power is its cultural power.

He added that the country’s cultural envoys should introduce the Iranian culture and civilization to the world.
